Ingo Borkowski

Ingo Borkowski attended the sailing section of the Children and Youth Sport School Berlin, completing his Abitur with an outstanding score of 1.1. During his law studies at Berlin’s Humboldt University, he acted as crew in various Soling teams. Borkowski was also part of the Aerosail team and won the 1994 Sardinia Cup as part of the “Astro” crew.
Together with Gunnar Bahr and helmsman Jochen Schuemann, both from Berlin, Ingo Borkowski won a number of World and European Champion titles in the Soling from 1997 on. The trio crowned their successful career by winning a silver medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
In preparation for the 2008 Games, Borkowski is now on a sabbatical that allows him to fully concentrate on Star boat sailing.
