Olympic Games 2008 - pinta Sailing Teams finish 7th and 9th
The medal hopes of the pinta racing team did not come true in the Olympic Games. Steffi Rothweiler and Vivien Kussatz sailed to rank nine in the 470 women’s class, the star boat team Marc Pickel and Ingo Borkowski ended the sailing competition with a seventh rank. “It was very tricky sailing because of the many shifts and wind holes. We did not find the right solution for our tactics.” says European Champion Rothweiler. “Maybe we will get another chance in four years.” Hopes a self-critical, but optimistic Marc Pickel. At least, conditions had been perfect during waiting periods. pinta racing team provided a Chill-out-Container for the Olympic Games. This air-conditioned container served as a cool place to retreat for all team members of the German sailing team and an escape from the hot and humid climate in August. Competitors and the Chinese President Hu were deeply impressed. “President Hu would have liked to lie down for a quick nap,” reported Marc Pickel.
